Texas Tech Continues Rise in U.S. News & World Report Online Rankings

The university was recognized for its bachelor’s program and its commitment to providing quality education to military veterans.

Texas Tech University’s climb as one of the top online universities, providing a comprehensive, cost-effective educational option, continued in 2026 in the latest release of the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Online Colleges rankings.

The 2026 rankings placed Texas Tech with the No. 56 overall Online Bachelor’s program, a leap of 10 spots from a year ago, positioning Texas Tech in the top 20% of universities in the U.S. Texas Tech finished in the top 50 in seven of the 11 categories in which it was ranked.

“This improvement in our rankings reflects what is a comprehensive, ongoing effort to create an innovative learning experience for the online Texas Tech student,” said Brian Still, vice provost for Texas Tech Online. “Texas Tech Online offers a fast, free application process to its online students, 24/7 tutoring, one-on-one support from dedicated student advocates, free credit for prior learning and work experience, and a broad, relevant range of degrees, including new offerings in legal studies and human-centered artificial intelligence, all taught by great faculty in flexible eight-week course offerings.”

Additionally, Texas Tech has the No. 15 Best Online Bachelor’s in Business Program.

Texas Tech also ranked No. 21 for Best Online MBA Programs and No. 33 in Best Online Non-MBA Master’s in Business Programs. Texas Tech also boasts a top 100 ranking in Best Online Master’s in Information Technology (74) and Best Online Master’s in Engineering (79).
