Texas Tech University recognized the Tech 10, an exclusive group of high-achieving graduating seniors from across campus, during an event Thursday (May 1) at the Frazier Alumni Pavilion.
The Tech 10 consists of students chosen based on their commitment to four cornerstone principles of Red Raider Spirit: academic excellence, campus leadership, service and striving for honor. Texas Tech’s Office of Student Life and the Office of Academic Innovation & Student Success created the recognition in 2023.
This year’s group boasts a cumulative GPA of 3.88.
“Our Tech 10 students exemplify the very best of what it means to be part of the Red Raider community,” said Ron Hendrick, Texas Tech provost and senior vice president for academic affairs. “Through their commitment to academic excellence, leadership on campus and a dedication to service, they remind us that honor is not just an aspiration – it’s a way of life. We are proud to recognize these outstanding students who set the standard for excellence at Texas Tech University.”
The members of the Tech 10 Class of 2025 are (in alphabetical order):
Asif Ahmed, an industrial engineering major from the Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering.
Abdulkader Almosa, a microbiology and general studies student in the Honors College and the College of Arts & Sciences.
Konner Jenkins, a biochemistry major in the College of Arts & Sciences.
Jaraden Kearby, an agricultural and applied economics major in the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources.
Ghufran Murtuza, a microbiology and general studies major with a concentration in Spanish in the College of Arts & Sciences.
Shruti Nagawekar, a computer engineering major in the Whitacre College of Engineering.
Chelsea Romas, an economics major in the College of Arts & Sciences.
Sebastian Salinas, a biochemistry major in the College of Arts & Sciences.
Savannah Trevino, a psychology major in the College of Arts & Sciences.
Charlie Zhang, a biology major and Honors College student in the College of Arts & Sciences.
The Tech 10 are chosen based on an application process that began in March. From those submissions, a smaller group is selected for 20-minute interviews with a panel of judges that then makes final selections.
