BODYTRAFFIC

Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Company

Friday, March 22, 2019

Named “the company of the future” by The Joyce Theater Foundation, one of Dance Magazine's 25 to Watch in 2013 and Best of Culture by the Los Angeles Times, BODYTRAFFIC has been instrumental in establishing Los Angeles as a center for contemporary dance. Founded in 2007 by Lillian Barbeito and Tina Finkelman Berkett, BODYTRAFFIC has surged to the forefront of the concert dance world.

With their versatile repertoire, BODYTRAFFIC is internationally recognized as bridging both new audiences and experienced dance enthusiasts with works by today's most distinctive choreographic voices such as Kyle Abraham, Hofesh Shechter, Barak Marshall, Richard Siegal, and Victor Quijada among many others. The company has performed for sold-out audiences at prestigious theaters and festivals throughout North America, including Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival, New York City Center's Fall for Dance, Chutzpah! Festival in Vancouver, Laguna Dance Festival, The Broad Stage in Santa Monica, Annenberg Center in Philadelphia, and World Music/CRASHarts in Boston. BODYTRAFFIC recently toured Israel and Jordan as part the DanceMotion USA tour which is produced by the Brooklyn Academy of Music in conjunction with the U.S. State Department.

“Drop gritty, contemporary New York and European choreographers into the fast-paced, freeway world of Los Angeles, sprinkle with energetic young talent, and you get the super-fast, super-sexy, super-expressive intensity of BODYTRAFFIC.” - Dance View Times
