Retail Management

The Bachelor of Science in Retail Management prepares students for dynamic careers in the retail industry through practical, industry-focused learning. Accredited by the Category Management Association, the program teaches buying, assortment planning, e-commerce, visual merchandising, and retail technology.

The program offers three concentrations—corporate/research, fashion merchandising, and store management—and one of the few Blue Yonder virtual reality planning environments in the U.S. Strong industry partnerships and a rigorous internship program prepare Texas Tech graduates to lead in corporate and entrepreneurial retail settings.

RETL 3350 - Visual Merchandising and Retail Promotion

Comprehensive study of the principles and practices of merchandise communication through the interaction and coordination of sales promotion, personal selling, visual merchandising, advertising, special events, and public relations.

RETL 3380 - Retail Buying and Control

The application of planning, purchasing, and controlling inventories.

HRM 4316 - Services Marketing for Hospitality and Retailing

Application of sales and marketing concepts, methods, and techniques in hospitality and retail management.

RETL 3395 - Internship in Retail Management

Supervised applications of concepts, principles, and techniques learned in the classroom; emphasis on student participation in the retailing industry.

Accelerated Hospitality & Retail Management Program

Program Information

Texas Tech's Accelerated B.S. to M.S. in Hospitality & Retail Management lets eligible students start graduate coursework in year four—completing both degrees in about 5.5 years to save time and tuition while gaining advanced skills for leadership roles and higher earnings in competitive retail/hospitality careers.
