The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) has once again ranked Texas Tech University among the top echelon of higher education institutions in the world, cementing its status as a global leader.

The CWUR has placed Texas Tech in the top 2.4% of universities worldwide, ranking No. 503 out of more than 21,000 colleges and universities, and No. 123 in the U.S. in its latest 2026 Global 2,000 List.

“Rankings such as these affirm the progress we have made in strengthening our academic and research enterprise while preparing graduates who are making meaningful contributions in their professions and communities,” said President Lawrence Schovanec. “As Texas Tech continues its trajectory as a leading public research university, we remain focused on creating opportunities, advancing knowledge and delivering value for the state of Texas and beyond.”

This marks the ninth straight year for Texas Tech to be included in the CWUR rankings, which is the largest academic rankings of global universities. Its rankings place equal emphasis on student-related and faculty-related indicators, using 81 million outcome-based data points.

Texas Tech also ranks No. 141 in the CWUR rankings among universities in the U.S. and Canada, No. 477 in terms of research performance and No. 562 in alumni employment.
