Texas Tech K-12 breaks attendance record at 2026 commencement.

The steady growth of Texas Tech K-12 was apparent this commencement season. 

As of mid-June, 333 students have graduated from the district during the academic year, with the class closing at the end of July.

The on-campus commencement ceremony hosted on May 15 saw a record 100 students cross the stage to receive their diplomas. The Class of 2025 held the previous record with 81 students arriving in person to collect their credentials.

The Class of 2026 comprises students from three states – Texas, Illinois and Nevada – as well as five other countries: Brazil, Colombia, Haiti, India and Mexico. Including this class, the district has graduated 6,550 students since its first ceremony in 1994. 

The 2026 commencement speaker was Kamau Siwatu, dean of Texas Tech’s College of Education and professor of educational psychology.
