Future Red Raiders Earn Scholarships

Five new graduates have received the competitive award given by the school.

Aside from the many advantages students mention for schooling through Texas Tech K-12 — scheduling freedom, practicing time-management skills and learning self-motivation, among others — one of the additional perks is access to scholarships for those who choose to continue on to college at Texas Tech University

Five students who made that choice applied and earned the competitive scholarship offered by Texas Tech K-12 to its graduates, each receiving $1,000 per semester. Another 10 returning Red Raiders applied and received the monetary assistance.

Of the five Texas Tech K-12 graduates coming to campus for their first year, four are from various schools in Brazil and one is from Lubbock.

Stella Bueno Leoni is from Indaiatuba, São Paulo, Brazil. She earned concurrent diplomas through Escola do Parque Ecológico/Objetivo Indaiatuba while completing the Texas Tech K-12 graduation requirements. She will be attending Texas Tech this fall with an expected major of computer engineering in the Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering.

“Texas Tech K-12 helped me become more independent and prepared me for the academic challenges of studying in the United States,” Leoni said. “Even after being accepted to 11 universities abroad, I chose Texas Tech because of the welcoming community, the strong engineering opportunities and the connection I had already built with the university through the K-12 program.”

Juliana Neme is from Medianeira, Paraná, Brazil. She graduated from CAESP Internacional Medianeira with her concurrent diplomas.

“Because I was taking economics classes in the K-12 program, I discovered my passion for finance and business,” Neme said. “I chose Texas Tech because of the great professors and the strong reputation of the Jerry S. Rawls College of Business. I’ll be majoring in finance.”

Other 2026-27 recipients include Kyleigh Castloo, Ezra Carter, Pedro Paulo Rodrigues Costa, Felipe Paulino Korte, João Ricardo Doria Carneiro, Matthew Zarkivach, Raphael Fumagalli Araujo, Cailyn Johns, Corbin Shearer and Taylor Toliver.

With a total of $30,000 earmarked for new and returning students for the 2026-27 school year and $170,000 dispersed to date, the grand total distributed is now $200,000. Since 2018, a total of 60 students have been granted the financial boost. The scholarship is renewable for each year a student attends Texas Tech, but it must be applied for annually.
