Texas Tech Once Again Named Top Producer of Fulbright U.S. Scholars

The selection emphasizes the value the university places on global connection and the support it receives from various campus communities across the U.S.

For the third straight year and fourth time since 2021-22, Texas Tech University has been named as one the institutions of higher education in the U.S. with the highest number of faculty and administrators selected for the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program.

The selection of Texas Tech as a Fulbright Top Producer emphasizes the value the university places on global connection and the support it receives from various campus communities across the U.S. to pursue international opportunities.

“This recognition speaks to the extraordinary talent of our faculty and to the culture of support we have built at Texas Tech for global engagement,” said Ron Hendrick, provost and senior vice president. “We invest in people who are eager to take their ideas, their scholarship and their teaching onto the world stage—and the Fulbright program is a powerful way to do that.”

For the 2025-26 academic year, seven Texas Tech scholars were selected for Fulbright U.S. Scholar program awards. That is the most scholars from Texas Tech selected in a single academic year since 2013-14.

“Texas Tech’s continued recognition as a Fulbright Top Producer shows that our scholars are competing – and succeeding – at the highest national and international levels,” said Reagan Ribordy, interim vice provost for international affairs. “These awards reflect not only individual excellence, but the strength of our institutional commitment to global engagement.”

Established in 1946, the Fulbright Program is the U.S. government’s premier international academic exchange program. Each year, it provides opportunities for exceptional Americans and participants from 160 countries and locations to study, teach and conduct research abroad, advancing knowledge, science and industry through international exchange and collaboration.

Award recipients achieve distinction and are recognized as leaders in government, business, science, technology, research, education and the arts.

Applicants to Fulbright at Texas Tech are supported by the International Affairs office under the Office of the Provost. Elizabeth Trejos-Castillo serves as the Fulbright Scholar Liaison.

Texas Tech continues to grow its rich heritage and connection to the Fulbright Program, which dates to 1957. The university hosted two Fulbright Visiting Scholars during the 2024-25 school year in Aamer Shaheen from Government College University Faisalabad in Pakistan and Abie Besman from Kompas TV in Indonesia.
