This course applies the economic principles of demand and supply to sustainable hospitality revenue management, focusing on hospitality revenue management activities for strategic decision-making, including pricing, forecasting, and trend analysis. The course is designed to provide an understanding of the hotel industry from a strategic management perspective. Students will learn to define revenue management, identify basic steps of the revenue management process, calculate internal performance measures, understand competitive sets, utilize forecasting for revenue management, and explore marketing concepts that play significant roles in strategic revenue management efforts. Note: The course is taught in English.

Objetivos del Programa

✅ Definir revenue management e identificar los pasos básicos del proceso de gestión de ingresos.
✅ Identificar, definir y calcular medidas de rendimiento interno que evalúan los resultados operacionales.
✅ Describir conjuntos competitivos y factores a considerar al crearlos adecuadamente.
✅ Explicar cómo el revenue management depende de las previsiones y detallar elementos de pronósticos.
✅ Identificar conceptos de marketing que juegan roles significativos en los esfuerzos estratégicos de revenue management.
✅ Describir métodos de distribución y explicar por qué la gestión de canales es importante para el éxito hotelero.

Dr. Bonhak Koo, director del programa

Dr. Bonhak Koo is an Assistant Professor of Strategic Management at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a Fellow at the Center for Global Understanding of Sustainable and Experiential Tourism (GUEST) at Texas Tech University. He is originally from South Korea and holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration with a specialization in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Oklahoma State University.
  • Assistant Professor of Strategic Management at University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
  • Formación Académica: PhD in Business Administration with specialization in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Oklahoma State University, plus Graduate Certificate in Statistical Methods and Analyses.
  • Especialización: Strategic Management, Revenue Management, and Hospitality Operations Management.
  • Experiencia:
    • Seven years of dedicated service at The Ritz-Carlton, Seoul, in various roles including Bell Desk, Concierge, Front Desk, and Sales & Marketing.
    • Professor teaching various courses in hospitality management including Hotel Operations and Management, Revenue Management, and Strategic Management.
    • Fellow at the Center for Global Understanding of Sustainable and Experiential Tourism (GUEST) at Texas Tech University.
