Yong Chen is interim chair of the Department of Computer Science (CS) and a professor of computer science. As interim chair, he oversees faculty members and students in four degree programs and two certificate programs. He joined Texas Tech in 2011 after doing post-doctoral research at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Dr. Chen's Ph.D. in Computer Science is from Illinois Institute of Technology. He also has an M.S. in Computer Science and a B.E. in Computer Engineering from University of Science and Technology of China.
