Preview Template & Site Testing
When a preview version of the Texas Tech Global Template is released for testing, you should be able to view the new styles on any page in the current template.
To preview a website or page:
- Navigate to the first page you would like to view:
Ex: https://www.depts.ttu.edu/itts/
- Append
?v=preview
to the end of the URL:Ex: https://www.depts.ttu.edu/itts/?v=preview
- Review the webpage in the preview version of the template.
- As you navigate to other pages within TTU.EDU, the
?v=preview
should remain in place, making it easy to view multiple pages. If for some reason the setting is not retained, repeat step #2 for the page in question.
How to Test Your Site
- Go to your site's homepage and add
?v=preview
to the end of the url.Ex: https://www.ttu.edu/administration/?v=preview
- Review pages and make adjustments as needed.
- Use the feedback form to alert the Office of Communications & Marketing and IT TeamWeb of any issues you need help with or want to discuss.
What to Look For
Text & Typography
- Has all the text on the body of my page updated to the Helvetica font?
- Is there any default text style that doesn't visually match the new styles?
- Is the H1 style only used on the page title?
- Is all default text left-aligned?
- Do all text links have a red underline?
- Is there any overlapping text?
- Is the color of text correct?
Spacing & Layout
- Does the layout of the page look correct?
- Are there any overlapping areas of content?
- If the sidebar is active, does it look correct?
- If the page has a subnav, does it look correct?
Elements
- Is the color of text correct in elements like buttons and custom elements?
- Do all buttons look correct and are legible?
- Do lists show the correct bullets?
- Are there any unnecessary horizontal rule elements?
