About CARS 2310 Thriving at Texas Tech: Personal Growth & Well-being
CARS 2310 began as an initiative of TechThrive, designed to promote the exploration of knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors associated with the multidimensional aspects of wellness. This course exposes students to important mental health and well-being topics relevant to the collegiate experience and life after graduation.
Upon sussessful completion of the course, a student will be able to:
- Assess their current level of well-being across each dimension of wellness and develop a plan to enhance well-being.
- Increase their mental health literacy and utilize this knowledge to develop effective strategies for coping with stressors.
- Identify on campus resources available to support student mental health and well-being.
- Develop a well-being perspective that enhances their personal and professional experiences at Texas Tech University.
What students will do in CARS 2310
- Explore the 8 dimensions of wellness
- Learn how to recognize, cope with, and prevent stressors
- Build skills in mental health literacy
- Develop "soft skills" to help with life in college and after college
Be a Mindful Matador
Upon successful completion of CARS 2310 students will be considered Mindful Matadors. This designation indicates a student worked to build life skills that will be beneficial in both college and life after college.
CARS 2310 is one way students can develop "soft skills" in the classroom that will be sought out in the professional workplace. A Mindful Matador designation signifies that students have taken part in learning to become resilient members of society.
Students who earn the Mindful Matador designation will be provided a cord to wear at graduation.
