In the year following the launch of ON&ON: The Campaign for Texas Tech University, donors gave $236 million to support students, research, athletics and more.
Texas Tech University has announced a record-breaking fundraising year, with 37,845 donors contributing $236 million during the 2025 fiscal year (FY25).
This monumental fundraising feat took place in the year following the public launch of ON&ON: The Campaign for Texas Tech University. So far, the campaign has raised more than $915 million thanks to the generosity of 84,397 donors, alumni and friends supporting the priorities of Transform Lives, Fuel Academic Excellence, Elevate Campus & Community and Build Champions.
“We are profoundly grateful for the generosity of our alumni, friends and supporters,” said Texas Tech President Lawrence Schovanec. “Their belief in Texas Tech creates life-changing opportunities for our students and expands the benefits and impact of everything we do as a university.”
Highlights from FY25 included the establishment of the John & Paige Bick Construction Engineering Technology Program and increased support of the Brookshire Foundation through doubling the S&B Engineers and Constructors Scholarship and launching the Brookshire-Quinn Scholarship for Veterans. Alumni from the Huckabee College of Architecture collaborated to establish the James E. White, AIA and John P. White, AIA Graduate Fellowship, and donors rallied together to set new philanthropic records during the 2025 Texas Tech Day of Giving.
The following numbers illustrate the impact Red Raider alumni, parents and friends had in FY25:
- 37,845 donors supported the university from September 2024 to August 2025, 5,854 of whom were first-time donors;
- 139 new scholarship/aid funds were established;
- More than $61 million was raised for scholarships and aid to support students and student-athletes;
- 129 new endowments were created to support programs across all four campaign priorities;
- Three new endowed academic positions were established; and
- More than $43.5 million was raised for community initiatives, solidifying the universitys commitment to improving lives in Lubbock and the broader West Texas region.
“The generosity of our supporters has an immeasurable impact on every area of Texas Tech,” said Byron Kennedy, vice president for advancement. “It transforms the lives of our students, supports problem-solving research, elevates our campus and helps propel our athletic teams. I am thankful for the incredible investments our donors make in this great university."
FY25 also marked a record year for planned giving, setting records for both the number of new Matador Society inductees and the total value of planned gifts. This year, members of the Matador Society, which recognizes those who have made planned gifts to institutions in the Texas Tech University System, gave more than $80 million.
“There is no better time to be a Red Raider,” ON&ON Campaign Co-Chair Gordon Davis said. “We have set a goal to become a preeminent university that attracts the brightest, hardest-working students. It’s all about the kids. Generosity brings us closer to achieving that goal.”
Fellow campaign co-chair Chris Huckabee echoed the sentiment.
“We see the potential of our students and how a Texas Tech education transforms them,” he said. “I am deeply proud that more than 37,000 donors invested in our university this year and see the value of the education and experience provided here.”
