Message from the CIO

It is with mixed emotions, mostly profound gratitude and appreciation and some sadness, that I share news of my retirement effective December 31, 2023. Retiring as the Vice President for IT & Chief Information Officer (CIO) while reporting to President Schovanec, in the TTU Centennial year, is absolutely the high point of my almost 40-year career at Texas Tech University – about 40% of Texas Tech's history! Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with many wonderful and talented Texas Tech students, faculty, staff and administrators, including my colleagues from the IT Division, colleges and other areas within the Texas Tech community. I am grateful for the incredible journey we have shared at Texas Tech over the past four decades, with the last two serving as your CIO. Retirement, for me, will be a time of reflection and relaxation with family and friends, but it will also be a time to cherish the memories and relationships forged during my time here in Raiderland! Go Tech!

Sam Segran
Vice President for IT and Chief Information Officer
