Microbiology

The Bachelor of Science in Microbiology is centered on the study of bacteria, viruses, and fungi. The curriculum provides a rigorous foundation in genetics, physiology, and virology, making it an ideal pre-professional track for students pursuing careers in medicine, dentistry, or biotechnology.

As one of the few standalone Microbiology majors in Texas, the program offers specialized coursework typically found only at the graduate level. Students gain hands-on experience in high-tech research labs and can join the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) student chapter, which provides exclusive networking and professional development within the scientific community.
