MEMORANDUM

Due to ongoing electricity and gas outages, the Texas Tech University campus remains closed today (Thursday) and Friday, March 14.

The Texas Tech Fire Marshal is investigating the events that occurred on Wednesday. The State Fire Marshal along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are also on campus today to provide their expertise and specialized equipment to determine the root cause and the full extent of the damage. There is no evidence of any criminal activity. There have been no known injuries to any members of our campus community.

Students living in residence halls may return to retrieve items prior to leaving for Spring Break. Students who had previously coordinated with University Student Housing (USH) to stay on campus through Spring Break may remain at their residence halls. If the power is not on in their building, USH will work with students to make alternate arrangements.

Only essential personnel should report to campus, as directed by a supervisor. All other faculty and staff should work remotely until further notice.

Texas Tech has launched a web page with questions that we are receiving. Please visit that page prior to calling campus.
