Letter from the Office of the President

Dear Red Raider Family,

I wanted to reach out personally to update you on my condition and express my deepest gratitude for the outpouring of support and well wishes I've received over the past few days.

Earlier this week, I experienced a medical emergency that required immediate attention. Thanks to the swift action of my dear colleagues at Texas Tech, the help of Chancellor Tedd Mitchell at the onset and throughout this experience, and the extraordinary care of my doctors and other medical professionals in the Lubbock community, I am expected to recover fully.

I want to express how moved I have been by your messages of encouragement, prayers and positive thoughts. Your kindness and support remind me how wonderful and special the Red Raider Family and our local community are. I am truly grateful for each of you.

As I focus on my recovery, I want to convey a special thanks to the leadership of our university and every member of the university community. Because of your dedication and professionalism, I have no doubt that Texas Tech will move forward smoothly and with full momentum. I hope to return to the office in the near future.

Thank you again for your continued support.

With warmest regards,
