With academic training in microbiology, Dr. Kennedy has extensive experience in the areas of virology, immunology, and emerging disease agents that represent BioSafety Level (BSL)3 and 4 containment pathogens. His research interests focus on vaccines and immunology in the areas of HIV infection and AIDS, cancer, hepatitis viruses and maternal-fetal medicine. Dr. Kennedy has served on a number of Federal Committees and Panels for the NIH, the Department of Defense, and the National Academy of Sciences.
