Presidential Leadership and Globally Engaged Scholarships

2021 Presidential Leadership and Globally Engaged Scholarship Nomination and Application Criteria:

  • Nominators must be Texas Tech University (including regional campuses) faculty or staff members.
  • Each faculty or staff member may nominate up to two (2) students.

Nominated students must be enrolled as full-time undergraduate students at Texas Tech University (including regional campuses) and have at least a 3.00 GPA at the time of their nomination.

Scholarship nominations will open the week beginning February 8, 2021, and will close on March 1, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. Currently enrolled undergraduate students are eligible to be nominated for this opportunity. More information on the nominating process is below.

Nominated Students may submit their applications beginning Friday, March 5, 2021. The application process will close on Friday, April 2, 2021, at 11:59 p.m.

Presidential Leadership Scholarship

The Leadership Scholarship is awarded to individuals who are excelling in their studies, show involvement in extracurricular activities and demonstrate leadership qualities.

Minimum GPA of 3.0, Leadership Involvement at Texas Tech University, Extracurricular Activities (can be from Academics, Campus-related, Community Service, Cultural/Artistic, Recreation, Service Learning)

Presidential Globally Engaged Scholarship

The Globally Engaged Scholarship is awarded to individuals who wish to enhance their academic experience at Texas Tech by participating in study abroad, an internship, or conduct undergraduate research.

Minimum GPA of 3.0. The student must intend to participate in a study abroad program, internship program, and/or conduct undergraduate research.

PLEASE NOTE: Awards for the Globally Engaged scholarship will be limited to students who are in their undergraduate program to participate in at least one of the following, fall 2021, spring 2022, and summer 2022 programs. Applicants who would not be available to participate in programs offered in those time frames need not apply.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, study abroad opportunities may be limited or canceled in 2021 and 2022. The scholarship committee is working with the TTU Study Abroad team to assess program availability and may award a larger number of leadership scholarships this year if participation in study abroad programs is limited or programs are canceled.

Application and Award Information

Nominated students will be contacted by the Office of the President by, Wednesday, March 3, 2021, about the process of completing their scholarship applications. Applications are due Friday, April 2, 2021, at 11:59 p.m., and will then be reviewed by the scholarship committee.

Award recipients, and those who were not selected this year to receive a scholarship, will be notified by early May 2021.
