Want to help your tutoring staff to develop their tutoring?

Hi all,

As I said yesterday, Peer Centered, the online forum for peer writing tutors has changed format. Rather than being a real-time, time-constrained conversation, Peer Centered will now be an asynchronous forum on a web board. Nevertheless, we will have the occasional even in real-time.

The web board can be found at http://bessie.englab.slcc.edu/discus/ . To get to the Peer Centered forum, participants just need to click on "Peer Centered--a forum for peer writing tutors" on the main web board page. Posters will not need accounts, but may request one from me if they wish to take advantage of the web boards advanced features.

Each week, I will post a new discussion topic, and let people have at it. This week's topic is "Going Online." E-tutoring is gaining more and more momentum with the growth of the Internet. E-tutoring has a tremendous impact on what we do in Writing Center. In this discussion we will explore the special issues that arrise in going online with writing tutoring.
I hope that you will encourage your tutoring staff to participate.
