Note that there are two quite different issues here.

(1) Does a student write better pieces with a computer than without one
(2) Does the same piece of student writing get the same evaluative
response if it (a) is computer printed or (b) handwritten.

The evidence--not so surprising if you think about it--is fairly
consisten with question (2), that teachers tend to be tougher in
responding to a typed copy than to a handwritten one.  One issue (1),
the evidence is quite mixed.
