An Invitation to Peer Centered: an online forum for writing tutors Inagural Beach Bash

You are cordially invited to Peer Centered: an online writing tutor forum's. Inaugural Bash. Peer Centered is an ongoing forum for and about writing tutoring. Anyone interested in tutoring writing may participate, although we hope to make the forums a space for peer-to-peer discussion. This forum is primarily conducted in a MOO--a real time "chat" program for want of better terms, but we have developed a web site gives that time-constrained forum more permanence. This web site is located at http://www.slcc.edu/wc/peercentered/index.html .

The Bash will be held at VWCMOO's Virtual Moki Canyon Beach (see the web page for log in instructions). Since this will be Peer Centered's first official gathering, it seems prudent to make it more social than issue oriented. This Bash will let us get to know one another, allow us to find out where we work and what our tutoring locales are like. Such an event will allow us to become more comfortable talking with each other, and will be useful practice for those unfamiliar with MOOs and MOOing.

What better place to hold such a bash than on a beach? VWCMOO, the host, has a lovely lakeside beach complete with a buffet, a bar, and, for those inclined to trip the virtual light fantastic, a dance floor. You can also go for a dip in the lake, or go water- skiing behind a maniacally driven boat. For those who wish to conduct more serious conversations without being interrupted by
partying fools, there will be other areas of the MOO that you may visit to talk.

Once on VWC, to get to Moki Canyon beach from the VWC Plaza, go through the Writer's Cafe to the Conversation Lanai. You will see an exit to the beach from the lanai. Black tie virtual.
