Re: Online Sources for Tutors
Hi Felicia,
If you want to read what we have on online tutoring, on our OWL
Website, go to the home page: <http://owl.english.purdue.edu> and hit
the link to "Resources for online tutors." There's a discussion of
online tutoring, some tips for our e-mail tutors, etc. It's got a lot
of local information for use here, but you might find some useful
info.
Also, we have several staffs in our Writing Lab, and there's one staff
of undergraduate tutors (known locally and lovingly as the UTA's=
Undergraduate Teaching Assistants) who work with the developmental
writing program. The current coordinator of that group (and one of the
UTA's) is Jennifer VanDermay, and she wrote a tutoring manual for the
UTA's. We coaxed her into putting it online. Some of it is local
stuff, and some is general tutoring advice:

I hope you find some helpful reading there.
