I think Liz makes an interesting point.
When I was a graduate assistant at Valdosta State University, the director
and I actually kept stats on this sort of event by considering help with
computers to be tutoring. Our writing center, then, took the view that
fostering student success with technology was a means of fostering student
success with writing. We differentiated between the two for our purposes
(basically so we could feel ok about our revised categories), but didn't
as far as general center records. And, with all of the wonderful OWLs and
online options available now, it makes sense to me that increased computer
use should be a big plus, even if it involves reconfiguring ways records
are kept.
Heck, we even surveyed students to learn more about how to meet their
technology needs as they understood them. (:
