Associate vs. Assistant

Hi to all you hearty summer members of wcenter!

I'm currently in contract negotiations for a position starting-up a
writing center at Waldorf College.  The director will be a faculty
member with a doctorate.  He is not accepting any extra pay for
directing the writing center and will only be spending three hours a
week in the center (tutoring).  He will, however, be providing guidance.


I am graduating with my BA (also from Waldorf) just before I start
working.  I will be in the writing center 40 hours per week or more and
will be attending to getting all of the forms, handouts, etc. ready.

My question is, should my position be as the Assistant Director or
Associate Director?  Please let me know what each title entails at your
institution.
