I agree with Mickey 120% (because if we can vote often, I figure we ought
to be able to play with other limitations as well ;)
I have fielded complaints like the one Per got, but VERY rarely. In those
cases, I removed the messages in question and advised (as Mickey suggests)
that the discussions are very public. I kind of doubt there's any legal
reason to remove messages. I did it for courtesy's sake. If someone asked
me to remove *all* their mail from an archive I'd probably have to decline
on grounds that it would be logistically too difficult and time consuming.
If someone regrets saying something particular in public, I can sympathize
and easily solve that problem. If someone regrets saying anything in
public and didn't understand this to be a public forum, then education is
the only solution.
