Pat McQueeny: I couldn't agree more. When will faculty acknowledge the
validity of collaboration for students in the same way they value it for
themselves! The Writing Center as a cite for plagiarism--the thought makes
my blood boil! I appreciate Jeanne's measured response, and I'm sure it
would be much more effective than the tirade I'd have at such an
absurd characterization. My temptation would be to talk about all kinds
of things with these people. You know, concepts like intertextuality,
social learning, and theorists like Bruffee, Bartholomae, etc. It's hard
to know where to start with that level of ignorance though. Sorry for the
