Re: Tutoring as Plagiarism

I agree with most of what's been said on this thread.  However, I also know 
that tutoring by poorly trained or untrained tutors can indeed be what I 
consider plagiarism.  

One of our academic support program uses untrained writing tutors.  They 
consistently rewrite students' papers, and they consistently receive 
complaints from professors who see papers that do not in the least resemble 
previous work by those students.

When these complaints multiply, they will bring me in to do a quick 
workshop for their tutors, but I really think training tutors not to take 
over the task requires much more time and effort on the part of the trainer
/administrator.
