Re: Tassoni article

At UM's writing center we have a formal list of GUIDELINES FOR WRITING CENTER
USE. Here it is:
1. Know your assignment , course designation, and instructor's name.
2. Have specific questions for a tutor to focus on.
3. Be aware that, if you have a handwritten draft, the assistance we give will
be more general than for a typed copy.
4. Do not expect more than 30 minutes with a tutor.
5. After one session on a long paper, IF you hand-write corrections on the
rest of your paper, a tutor can review it for a second session. You
are limited to one hour for a single paper.
6. Do not expect proofreading. That is YOUR job. However, we can tell you
	how to proofread.
7. Apply the strategies you have learned in this session to improve your
	next paper.
8. Do not expect tutors to estimate the grade your paper will receive. Do
expect suggestions for improving your paper.
9. Make your own final decisions about what changes you make on your paper.
What the tutor gives you is advice.
10. If you have a problem with the advice a tutor has given you, discuss the
problem with the director or associate director.
This information is on a large sheet of paper with lots of white space around
it. We used to have three or four paragraphs of text, but found that students
did not read it. We have better luck with this numbered, sparse info. Feel
free to use it or any part of it.
