Re: Tassoni article

And I'm gonna piggyback on Lynell's post here--first to say, yes, I think some pre-tutoring exercise is appropriate (like pre-writing), and second to extend this idea of teacher-coaching-tutee about how to direct his or her tutoring session to tutor-coaching-tutee about how to ask the teacher for the kind of response he or she is willing to accept (i.e., direct the interaction between teacher and student). Or am I making a false disticntion; that is, are these scenarios both writer-directing-reader situations?

Thoughts?

I'm just jumping in on this discussion, and can't claim to have read the Tassoni article; but I like the idea of students taking a little responsibility for the tutoring session. And it occurs to me that would be just the sort of thing tutors might effectively talk about when they do classroom visits. I've even been trying to find something useful to say to students --- above and beyond giving information about the Center --- when I visit classroom. I wonder is some kind of tutoring protocol that tutors could deliver when they visit classes wouldn't be really helpful. A kind of , "how to get the most out of your tutoring session" Maybe some of you already have your tutors doing that kind of thing when they visit classes?
