Re: pencils as advertisement

Yes, we have pencils with our Writing Center's name on them! Printed on
them is: THE WRITING CENTER, Truman State University, MC 303, x4484. Do I
think this is an effective means of advertisement? Well, we are associated
with our pencils(and also with giving away tissues and snacks), and I
figure *anything* that gets us noticed in a positive way is a good thing.
I think the pencils are a good advertisement for prospective students or
for presentations about our services to faculty and students. We don't
really care if students/faculty keep them or lose them; whoever finds/uses
the pencil sees our name on it. The great thing about our pencils is that
they are purple and white (our school colors), and they are *flexible*.
Unfortunately, they don't write very well (the lead's too soft)! (Hmm, what
does *that* say about us??)
