Byron--

I don't mind having my name linked with pocket protectors;  in fact, I own
two--one presented to me by a fashionable friend and the other (imprinted
with a picture of an armadillo) a gift from a former tutor.  But, *if* red
pencils are supplied with the _Resource Manual_, I don't want my name
associated with them.  Merciful heavens, I still get queasy thinking about
all the red pencil marks on my *own* papers in highschool and college.  In
fact, I developed such a deep aversion to red ink and red pencils that I
cannot pick one up without thinking about the final scene in _Hamlet_ (all
those skewered bodies littering the stage).

Well, I must get back to work....

p.s.  Just as a point of information, I'm using Royal Purple to make
copyediting notations on the drafts and proofs of the _Resource Manual_.
