Re: Marketing slogans

We've had several "add campaigns" over the years. We've ranged from
the serious to the ultra-goofy. Interestingly enough the ultra-goofy
tend to attract more attention.

Some samples of goofiness:

Adds that parody commercial products and end with the slogan: "Get
extra-strength Writing Center."

Adds that mention writing difficulties with a common slogan:

An add with showing Bob Dole saying "Maybe I should have considered
my audience!" The slogan: SLCC Writing Tutors: canvassing the
politics of audience daily."

(and even more goofy)

An add showing a head with a bat caged in it. Slogan: "SLCC Writing
Tutors: freeing bats daily."

An add before the "daily" campaign showing Einstein saying "E=What?"
With the statement "If you're stuck, why not speak to a Writing
Tutor?"

Or

Mona Lisa saying "I wish I could tell them how I feel," with a
similar punch line.

I think my all-time favorite is a hair-care motif called "Bad
Writing Day?" that has an image of a rather confused looking (and
wild-haired) person with the "Get extra-strength Writing Center"
slogan underneath.

All in all I think goofiness does have its place...it does get
noticed and folks come in wondering who the heck wrote them.

Anyway....
