Tutors are valuable!
I first want to extend thanks to Clinton and Suellen for providing me
with information concerning tutor wages.
I am still curious how much other community colleges (any size) and
universities pay student and professional tutors. I continue to lose
great tutors who really love the work but can't afford to tutor. I
fear a precedent has been set at our center (we've always paid low
wages and provided quality service, so why incease wages now?). I am
wanting to find a way to convince the administration that my staff is
valuable. I know if I could measure retention, I could get the
administration to take notice; however, I haven't determined exactly
how to do this. In addition to presenting information about the
number of students served, number of visits, time spent tutoring
statistics, what else might I present to increase our worth (or should
I say, the administration's perception of our overall value to the
college)? What a dilemma!
Thanks in advance for the information.
Please respond off list about tutor hourly wages.
