I've tutored as a faculty member in a center that had
undergrads/grads/faculty on staff.  No one requested a 
certain "kind" of tutor (to my knowledge), but that might
be because our pictures were outside the door (with our
names and "rank" and major).  My concern about that (more
than choosing by "rank") was that students would choose a 
tutor more by gender/race/appearance/age (based on the photo).
We'll never know if that was ever a problem, though.  

I'll echo what others said:  there's no reason to separate
student/faculty schedules.  Some students would be intimidated
by faculty; others might want faculty.  Those individual requests
should be handled on a case-by-case basis....
