Re: the 'logic' of training tutors thru' EN

Hi Virginia. At the University of Houston-Clear Lake we have a
Literature program rather than an English department. Two years ago, in
response to what our community colleges said they looked for in
preparation for writing teachers, we moved Composition Theory and the
graduate-level tutor training practicum into the Literature Rubric as
part of a special emphasis in composition pedagogy. Here's our program:

		Literature 5130--Composition Theory & Practice
Literature 5131--Studies in Composition & Rhetoric
		Literature 5739--Tutor Training Practicum &
One semester of Writing Center Tutoring

Chloe Diepenbrock
Writing Center Director
