Re: logic of training tutors through EN

I speak for my esteemed colleague and suite-mate, Kevin Davis, who has
contracted a nastybug and is not here today:

At East Central, the course is Eng 4982 -- Seminar, Tutoring. This number is a
senior-level; however, Kevin recruits from all grade levels and, to the best of
my knowledge, all subject areas. This is the training ground for students who
eventually become tutors. He has told me that his ideal scenario is to recruit
second-semester freshmen for his spring course who are concurrently enrolled in
Comp II. Then, at the end of the spring semester, they should be fairly
well-equipped to manage tutoring as pedagogy AND discuss writing at the same
time. By the time they're juniors, they have a good handle on what to do. I've
sent him a few freshmen who I feel are up to the challenge.

I'm sure Kevin will editorialize further when he returns from quarantine.
