push
John's version of motivation behind 'push' tools on the web rings true to
me. I highly recommend _Wired_ magazine's recent feature on push (I don't
have the issue, but you might find it at www.wired.com somewhere). Pure,
frenzied hype. Great reading.
But the next question is always the more interesting: What do *we* do
about push? Ignore it because it was created to satisfy the demonic urges
of capital? Embrace it (and be sucked into the capitalist mindset)?
Embrace it (and appropriate it for our own uses, exploiting the work of
the exploiters)?
The last option sounds most bestest to me. It's not without its risks, but
ignoring seems riskiest of all.
