pointcast "push" in WC or Comp?

hi folks,

OK, here's another wild-hare question:

I've just now discovered a new kind of inter-(and intra-)net
function/software called pointcast. (check it out at "www.pointcast.com")
I remember it being in the technerd news awhile back, but I didn't grasp its
possible import.

It's among a new type of software called "push." (c.f. "pull" e.g. netscape).

If I understand it, it's basically a publishing/subscription function. And
if I run a pointcast server (needs a WinNT4.0 machine), I can publish to an
intranet (e.g. our local LAN). And the people on the LAN can publish as
well (and apparently a lot easier than crunching html files and ftp-ing them
to a web server).

For those of you folks who are gracious enough to still be reading, but
whose eyes are glazing over with half-formed tech-talk, you are hereby
excused to go and do something else. But I learned at the pointcast site
that the Wharton School of Business packages pointcast with their students'
net software suite (including netscape, eudora, trumpet, etc.)

Is there anyone out there in WC land who knows anything about pointcast or
its instruction/tutorial potential?

thanks,
james w
