                 Join Netoric's Tuesday Cafe Discussion
                           for July 29, 1997
                             8:00 p.m. EDT
in Netoric's Tuesday Cafe, on Connections

                                Topic:
                     Ideas for classes in muds

                           New to Netoric?
                     Go to Netoric's Home Page:
         http://bsuvc.bsu.edu/~00gjsiering/netoric/netoric.html
You'll find information about the Netoric Project,
and links to helpsheets for getting connected to
and exploring Connections as a guest, as well as
other information about the MOO Connections.

Once you're connected to Connections and feel oriented,
use this command to get to the cafe:
                        walk to Tuesday Cafe

-> Netoric's home page also has logs of Netoric events! <-

-> To join Netoric with a permanent Connections character: <-
Email Tari or Greg (addresses below). Say that you want a
Connections character in order to join the Netoric Project,
and give your first and second choices for your character's
name, and the email address to which we should register your
character and send your new character info. Netoric's
mission is to serve writing teachers and students who are
studying to be writing teachers, but we also welcome anyone
who's interested in our events to join the project (or to
visit as guests when our events interest them).

In the next few weeks, several Netoric members will be
offering help for teachers who want to start using Connections
for their writing classes. We'd like to begin with a session
at which those who've already used muds in their writing
classes talk about some of the things they've done with
their classes. This will give new teachers some ideas about
the possibilities, so that they can then begin to plan and
figure out what specific kinds of help they might want to
      get later.

Since sharing these ideas could also be useful for experienced
teachers and for teachers using muds other than Connections,
we're going to have this initial session at this week's
cafe. If you've taken classes to muds before, please come and
describe some of the activities you've used in your classes.
And if you haven't taken a class to a mud before, join us to
find out what you could do if you did.

[Also at the cafe, for those teachers who are planning to use
Connections for classes and want some help, there will be info
about arranging some small-group sessions where you can get
Connections-specific help with getting a space ready for your
classes to meet and build in. If you have to miss the cafe,
check the log on the Netoric home page (URL above), or contact
      Tari (address below).]

      See you at the Cafe!
