    Due to a mid-summer and unexpected resignation, we have a 
position open in our Reading/Writing Center.  As you can imagine we 
are moving as quickly as possible to fill the opening.  Would you 
please pass this information along to qualified persons who might have

Complete Position Announcement follows:

Augustana College Reading/Writing Center seeks an energetic, creative 
and flexible instructor to fill a one-year, full-time administrative 
position.  The primary responsibilities of this nine-month position 
involve individualized tutoring twelve hours weekly in writing, 
reading and study skills, and teaching four courses annually in 
College Writing and College Reading.  The Reading/Writing Center 
staff of faculty and student tutors serves Augustana's entire student 
body, creating supportive learning opportunities tailored to the 
widely diverse needs and abilities of all students.  The Center staff 
also works closely with academic departments and administration to 
provide workshops and other resources focused on student academic 
growth and success.
    In addition to teaching, the responsibilities of this position 
include serving as mentor for student tutors as well as planning and 
facilitating campus and community workshops on writing, reading, 
study skills and/or tutor training.  Experience with Writing Center 
theory and practice is strongly desired.  Facility with computer 
technology is also desirable, especially working knowledge of 
software supporting writing, reading or study skills.  Ph.D. is 
preferred; Master's degree and teaching experience are required.
