Re: Another Worry about Absenteeism
I ask tutors to find replacements for themselves *only* when they are
planning to be out of town or want time off for a future event. When
they call in sick I tell them to go to bed with a (whatever they need)
and take care of themselves. When my tutors are sick, it's *my*
responsibility to find a replacement for them--or work the shift myself.
This also applies to tutors whose children or other family members become
ill.
BTW the best excuse I ever heard from a tutor who was late for his shift
was that he was out chasing cows down to return them to the field they
had escaped from. It was true, but it presented a very humorous picture.
