Job Description for writing consultants

Paula Gillespie suggested I post the job description for the
writing consultants to WCENTER.  Some of the formatting may be
wierd.

Anyway, here is the job description:

Onsite Writing Center Consultant
University Writing Center
(Job Description)

The Onsite Writing Center Consultant of the University Writing
Center fulfills the following duties:
7 Greeting clients who come to the University Writing Center
7 Representing the University Writing Center to clients, faculty
members, and visitors 
7 Working one-to-one with writers, encouraging writers to assume
and retain responsibility for their documents.
7 Augmenting the online writing consultants when necessary
7 Attending the weekly colloquia
7 Reading and discussing the monthly Writing Lab Newsletters
7 Reading and discussing the Writing Center Journal  which
appears twice a year
7 Subscribing to, reading, and participating (if you are so
inclined) on WCENTER or WCENTR-L (Eric CrumpUs moderated list)
7 Reviewing the files on grammatical terms and concepts located
at

7 Reviewing the files on paragraph development, thesis statement,
and topic sentence located at

7 Becoming familiar with the Chicago Manual of Style, the MLA
Handbook, and the APA Style
7 Becoming familiar with the style manuals in the WebsterUs
Collegiate Dictionary, the American Heritage Dictionary, and the
Random House College Dictionary.  Pay particular attention to the
use of the comma, information writers frequently want or need
7 Developing a research project for the year which may result in
a paper for presentation and/or publication
7 Preparing a self-evaluation to be presented to the Director at
the end of each semester

Other expectations
7 Treating clients with respect and civility
7 Being on time and on premise during scheduled working hours 
7 Dressing appropriately
7 Limiting personal telephone conversations both in number and
length since the telephone is used to conduct the business of the
University Writing Center
7 Being conservative in using the printer: paper and toner are
expensive. 
7 Informing the director in case of absence and repaying
colleagues who substitute for you
