Tutoring vision impaired students
Hi Rob - Greetings from AVE Edmonton:
We have several students here at the college with vision impairments. I have
taught two totally blind students math at the lower levels -
(fractions/decimal/percent stuff to basic algebra. The lesson plan along with
sample calculations and the questions to be assigned were brailled. The
student and I would meet and go over the lesson and the sample calculations,
then she would do her assignment using a braille and speak computer. The next
day (or when she finished the assignment), she would give me a print out of the
completed questions which I would check, then we would start the next lesson.
We have a number of large print programs (zoomtext, etc) and other adaptive
devices in our area.
Let me know if I can provide more info.
