Re: FW: high school writing centers -Reply -Reply

Betsy Burris asked me where I got the funding. Well, it's not guaranteed
yet, but our school has a "Professional Development Grant" fund, for
which a high school-college project would be ideal. The administration
likes anything that will help promote the college's image and boost its
enrollment.

Outside of this fund, I asked for and received more work study money
for next year than I need just for tutoring so that student tutors can do
both tutoring and special projects, such as working with high schools,
doing classroom presentations here at ACC, co-facilitating student
workshops (on study skills, editing, research papers, etc.), and so on.

Finally, if these first high school projects are effective, the administration
may be willing to provide on-going funding. (I may be overly optimistic
about this, though.)
