Re: high school writing centers

Our high school writing center has been in operation (in various forms) for
about ten years. Currently we have a computer lab, 50 peer tutors and a WAC
program. What we do in a high school writing center is based on the college
model, but there are obviously some things (good and bad) that are unique to
high schools. In fact, we have a consortium of high school writing center
directors in our area. We meet a couple of times a year to share our
experiences and discuss the directions our centers are taking. High schools
and middle schools are real growth areas for writing centers. I'd be happy to
correspond with you about writing centers!
