Re: Request for Help from Fans of Filemaker Pro

We run FileMakerPro now for our Writing Center. The only way I know to count
non-numerical categories is to do as Jane suggested: do a sort by field.

Another possible alternative is to do a sort by field, export your sort pile
into another database with only the fields you are counting, and then do a
manual count. This saves you from having to do as many searches as there as
possible values.

Here's two more possibilities that I haven't tried: 1) have someone write a
FileMakerPro 'script' that will sort and count by field at a keystroke; 2)
export your data into a database or spreadsheet program that will count in the
way you want counted.

If you do either of these latter possibilities, let me know how it goes. Good
luck!
