Re: Western Governor's Virtual University
Hi, Jane. Lisa Ede and I have kept in touch with the folks at Oregon
State who are part of the WGU conversation. We, too, are interested
in participating in providing virtual writing center space for this
new virtual university. So far, though, the word we've received is
they aren't ready for our ideas. Let's keep each other posted,
though, okay Jane? This might be an opportunity for some nifty
collaboration among many writing centers. --Jon, olsonj@cla.orst.edu
P.S. Sorry to send this message right before postponing my
wcenter mail for a week+ and leaving town.

Interesting, Joan, that you men the Zlotowski session. I missed it
at CCCC, but I caught up with him at the AAHE conference in D.C. on
Sunday, and I was thoroughly fascinated by the possibilities he
presented. I came back thinking
I should start a service learning center (although I can't stand that
term).
Speaking of the AAHE conference--there was a session on the Western
Governor's
University, which is going to be a virtual university. I want to
make contact with the people who are organizing WGU about their plans
for incoporating a writing center into their services, but I'd like
WCENTER's advice first. Do you think the best plan would be to have
WGU hook into the various OWLs already in existence? Or to identify
one OWL as the "home" virtual Writing Center? I'm thinking the
latter might be more successful, initially, but I'm read to hear all
arguments.
We need a new subject line for my query--I hope someone writes that
subject line, since I didn't.
