Wcenter Breakfast in Phoenix
To my wbrothers and wsisters:
I have talked with Maria from the Matador Restaurant, just around the
block from the civic center. She and her co-hosts will welcome the
opportunity to serve us, but only if we will eat from a pre-set menu. She
recommends huevos rancheros (their speciality), which comes with
hash browns, beans, toast or tortillas, juice, and coffee or tea. The cost
will be $10.07 plus 15% gratuity. She said also that they would issue
only one ticket, so we should all be prepared to pay in cash. (If I talk to
her again, I will ask if she will be able to at least provide blank tabs for
folks who need receipts for their reimbursements.)
She has us "pencilled in" for Friday at 7:30 a.m., but I want to check with
folks to see if it is ok to be served banquet style. Maria says it is nearly
impossible for them to do well with a group of 75 or more ordering off the
menu, and I do recall things being quite chaotic at LePeep last year.
I hope everyone will be interested in this. The proximity, the willingness
of the staff, the space, the fact that it's a Mexican restaurant (we will be
in Phoenix, after all), and the ticking of the clock all make this seem like a
good deal to me.
Please let me know what you think. I will start a count if more than one
person (with me being that one) is interested.
