         Associate Director
         Learning Assistance Center
         St. Mary’s University
         San Antonio, Texas

St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas is seeking an Associate Director
to assist Director in an established Learning Assistance Center (LAC).
Responsibilities include hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating
student tutors; providing tutoring, academic support, and supplelmental
instruction for students at all levels, particularly in writing center.  The
Associate Director will serve as Director of the Academic Preparation
Program (APP) a university  program for 60-80 at risk students.
Responsibilities include hiring and coordinating faculty; designing
curriculum for reading/writing and mathematics courses; teaching the
reading/writing course; administering program from recruitment and advising
to teaching and assessment.

Non-tenure track, renewable yearly contract for twelve months.  Salary
competitive.  M.A. degree and minimum two years experience in teaching
required in the areas of writing/rhetoric/English, reading, or critical
thinking. Knowledge of computers and their use in instruction and
